Loksound Decoder Problem

“Hi I have an N scale Kato sdp40f fitted with a loksound decoder. My question is when I want it to move off there is a 2-3 second delay before it moves, now this would not be a problem except I have it hooked up to two other locos which move off straight away. I’ve tried adjusting start voltage and cvs 2-5-6 as well as cvs 3 acceleration and 4 de acceleration but I can’t get rid of the delay before moving off any ideas on how to make it move off as soon as power is applied other than that it runs great the loksound was Kato factory fitted.”

It’s not something as simple as dirty wheels.
No the loco is brand new travelled about 4 feet
Are the other locos loksound equipped? These are upscale decoders and they may have a CV that controls the movement to more closely mimic the real thing. That means the motor “revs up” and the loco moves after the revs have moved up. Their is probably a CV that controls this but you will have to look in the corresponding loksound manual. These are all available on ESU’s website, download as a PDF. If you haven’t already downloaded it you should and probably print it off for quick reference unless you have portable tablet that you can carry to your train setup. Take the time to read it and understand all the controllable CV’s. Same thing for the decoders in the other locos as they may have a CV that does the same thing as the loksound only set to zero delay.

Thanks Bill I eventually found out how to do it from a company called DCC Concepts. It was in cv 124 I had to read it , then re write it with the value less 4. So it read 20 and I re wrote it as 16 and it worked.
