Laying Flex Track On Incline Risers

“I am into British 00 gauge-1:76 scale and want to know if you can help me out laying flex-track,on the ‘Woodland Scenics’ incline/riser set. Joining the fishplates to each of the rails, also the best way to open the fishplates wider to fit on the rails. Can some advise please?”

Cover with plaster cloth, add roadbed and track as usual. I’ve done this in my layout. Atlas code 100 rail joiners work. PECO are too tight.
Peco joiners are just fine. There is a reason that they are a tight i – so that they grip the rail. I find Atlas joiners, which I can slip on without using pliers create my worst “dry joints” in my rail. causing locos to stall. I find I need to “crimp” the Atlas joiners. To avoid dry joints I now solder the joints.
On curves I always stagger joints, I do not cut the two rails off square – that just wastes rail and puts valuable dollars and cents into others’ pockets. Take your time laying out the curves.
Sorry, I hit post too soon. Solder droppers at least once on every separate piece of rail and connect the droppers to a “bus” wire under the layout. If possible find the heaviest copper wire you can for the bus. – stripped down house lighting wire is good.as there are 2 wires enclosed in the insulation – one for each rail.
