Brass Track

"Recently I dusted off my HO trains and track, some of which are 50 years old. The track I have is Code 100 and in a brass type finish. I am seeing steel and silver nickel but no brass. Is there any brass track out there?"

John,
Unless you hit a yard sale or an estate auction, I doubt you will find brass track anymore anywhere. Your brass track is still okay to use although it tends to tarnish a lot easier than nickel silver rail does. As a result, you’ll have to clean the rail more frequently to get good conductivity between the track and your locomotives.
If you should decide to mix the rail types, you MIGHT run into corrosion issues by mixing the two rail types together when they come in contact with one another.
Another downside (although not as serious) of mixing the rail types is that the nickel silver looks more realistic than the brass.
