Point Motors and Switches
John would like some advise, so please comment if you can assist:
“My layout is N scale. I am installing 18 Peco PL-10 Point Motors and Switches, plus 1 CDU. I am wiring the + and – cnnections from the CDU via a Bus to the Motors and Switches. My question is can I connect the third wire which I am using yellow wire for to a separate Bus, or does each yellow wire need to be connected from the switch directly to the individual Point Motor? I have very little electrical knowledge.”

John: The PL-10 switch machine requires 3 wires. One of which, I assume it is your yellow wire, connects to two terminals on the PL-10. The other two wires connect to their respective terminals on the other side and come from a switch. The yellow wire or common wire can be bussed, all connected together and then connected to one of the terminals on the PS. The other terminal of the PS will be routed to the switch that contols the PL-10. depending on the position of the switch one or the other of the coils on the PL-10 will be activated causing the track switch to change position. Hope this helps.
