Interesting Poll Results

It was interesting to see the results of the last poll when we asked “Do you operate DCC, DC, or Live Steam?”

A total of 647 people responded which is a big number.

47% (309) said they operated DCC, 34% (223) answered DC, 2% (15) Live Steam, 3% (24) said some other system, and 11% (76) said they didn’t have a layout.

So, although the trend is toward DCC there are obviously still a lot of people operating DC.

I run N scale in DC. Have many loco’s with DCC and enjoy what I can get out of them with the equipped controller or the new DC get all the DCC sounds out controller from a reputable command control company. Well that is just me

I run HO steam DC set in the year 1900. We didn’t have diesel electric then, nor computers. I don’t think DCC was available either, so I don’t run it. Also I have no automobiles or trucks, no
AAA or CAA, no paved roads, no cops on cars or motorcycles, no car dealerships-new or used, no gas stations. No parking meters. Life then was simpler. Not better, but easier to understand and model.

We did not have computers then, nor DCC. Our engines were prettier, if more temperamental. We had no cars or trucks, no car dealers, parking lotsno meters,
    gas stations, paved roads.
Life was simpler. Not better, but simpler. Easier to model and to me, more satisfying.

  • I once had a N scale layout running both DDC and DC. Blocks of track for the DC locos. The DCC and DC power packs are both wired to the track but an Atlas Controller switch is wired between both DCC and DC power supplies. With the Atlas controller you can choose DCC or DC. But never have both turned on at the same time. One should always be OFF. this allows both DCC and DC locomotives to run on the same layout. However, only one type (DCC or DC) can run at the same time.
