What manufacture are the turnouts and sizes (Frog #’s)? Does it pick on both right hand and left hand turnouts or just right/left hand? Or does this happen on all the turnout no matter what size the turnouts are? What I would do is disconnect the main rods from the drivers so the wheels run freely. Push the engine through the turnout very slowly and see what is causing the picking. It could be some interference between the front trucks and the front pilot.
