Ruth; I likewise am starting to build an O & G scale layout as I am retired now & looking forward to it after collecting rolling stock & track products for about 40+ years. I have found that as far a vehicles, 1:50 scale appears to look good with O. Whatever you end up doing, do it well & have fun!

Hi Ruth, great to hear both of you are doing this together. O scale is great if you have the room and you do. I now have the room but have so much invested in N scale I will not change and even though arthritis is setting in I am not changing. You can find a lot of stuff on Ebay but know your prices or you can actually spend too much for an item unless you really want it and it is out of production. You can go to (train world / train land) located in brooklyn ny and long island and they have plenty of what you want in your scale and their prices are very competitive. They are on line so you can buy that way or call them and ask for what you want and they will also send you a catalog of what they have. There are plenty of dealers on line so just key in (model trains O scale) sound like you are a person that dont mind shopping for the best deal so just go for it. For scenery and construction tips Roberts e book or model rr magazine have all you should need in your new endevor. Most of all have fun. keep us posted on how you are doing. Tony P
