IF i may I would like to take you in a different direction I would like to suggest to you a Digitrax's PM-42. This unit is a circuit breaker and a reverse loop. It has 4 positions on the board. In your case you could use one slot for the reverse loop and the other 3 positions for circuit breakers for the yard, mainline and siding. this a good deal because if a short happens it won't shut the whole layout down and then you can find out where the short is---yard mainline, siding. this way you have a starting point and not have to trouble shoot the WHOLE layout.
