I have taken several trips via rail and have been on 5 different excursion lines. The most memorial one is the one I took with my wife and daughter on the Yukon an White Pass RR when we saw a black bear. It was a nice surprise to see a black bear in mid June. It was also a very beautiful day. This was our second trip on this line and this particular trip was a longer trip. I really like the step canyon views of this area and once you reach the top it is amazing at how different it is. I also have fun memories of the Sumpter Valley RR because the trip was short, but had unexpected deer running near the train through the tailings of the old mining operations that the railroad goes through. There really isn't much to say other than that I recommend to everyone that they should take this short trip if you are ever driving through the Baker City area of Oregon on I-84.
