This is a very interesting issue. One of our members wanted to test the ability to run with an i-pad and set-up a wireless hot-spot so he could use his i-pad and it worked just fine. Another member liked the idea so he obtained a Samsung 7-inch tablet with Android and installed the JMRI app on it and his works fine too. After seeing both, I prefer the appearance of the throttle on the i-pad.

All latest DCC controller has available for sale an interface that connects to a computer and can control a DCC system. The Digitrax , the MRC and the NCE have this interface.
The MRC , which I know best , offers two types of interfaces. One wired and one wireless . Trough these interfaces you can use the JMRI program to control and program their models and adjust decoders and more.
Still on the MRC , its program lets you add two extra DCC throttles , operated by the computer screen.

Best Regards

Yes you can, with a Digitrax system you can install JMRI software on a PC Laptop, link the PC to a Digitrax control system via network cable. Connect laptop to wifi and run application on Iphone or Android on wifi. It's not as difficult as it sounds. You'll also benefit by the easy programming of the JMRI interface. Just google it and enjoy. -Richard

I just received two Bachmann E-Z App locomotives that are controlled thru an iPhone app. Really really cool: no wiring, no installation. Plus bonus sounds and programmable acceleration and deceleration. They claim there will be an Android app, also. Still waiting.
