Robert and Allen, Something I do with the ties I have remover from bad track I make stacks of rail ties. Clean the spike area of the ties so they will be never used ties. Stack the ties so they can be stacked on your lumber car or across in the gondolas. You may have to file the spikes off the plastic mold. Also stacks of ties are sometimes stacked where new ties will be stacked along the track where ties will need replaced. I use Goo Glue to hold them together. Also small stacks are a good way to mark where you might cross insulated gaps in your rail from Newman

Hello Sir,
I'm really new at this posting comments type of thing I'll give it a try. In your description of the Coal Storage bin I have a Lionel Layout & I was wondering if you think I can use this same concept using broken pieces of HO track for the shell even though the layout is in O'Gauge?
Do you think that someday you might if you have the time to make a video about the this same subject matter & the best possible scale size layout it would look good in. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment.
Sincerely Allan
