This is not blue-tooth but could be the future for model railroading as batteries get smaller and battery life improves. This system does not rely on feeding power to the track. The loco is radio controlled and contains a receiver and battery. It seems to do everything as DCC does?

Try looking up BlueRail. I have the plug in board V1: Blue Horse. The site will show some videos of what their board can do. Bachmann also make engines with blue tooth boards, the app for your phone is free. Blue Rail also has a free app for your phone. I bought a board for one of my DC engines, vary cool. I think the DCC stuff is great, just do not like the expense that is DCC. I installed the board in a box car and ran the wires to the engine. The board allows you to control the engine speed and has four outputs for controlling the lights on your train. The apps also has sounds for a diesel or steam engine. I transmit the sounds to a Bluetooth speaker. My Bluetooth speakers has great volume, but I can not get the volume I would like from the app.
