Yes, it sounds like an American Flyer 0-6-0 switcher or mabe a Pacific without the lead and trailing trucks. Need to see a photo to be sure.

Sounds like an American flyer engine. They were S scale. They did not use an e unit. It must be an 0-6-0 switcher. They were made by AC Gilbert company. They are no longer in business but the lionel train company bought them out and sells their models. Hope this helps you.

AF locos had reverse units in the tender. You’re missing lead and trailing trucks.

I would like to see a picture. Do you know the age of the loc? To my knowledge some were brass. I would need more information too.
