Hi, I'm a rookie with a Trix 4-6-2. If it's not the traction tires, or axles, have you checked your local, or state model railroad club(s)? They are a GREAT source of information and networking. I have not used this source, but got this gentleman's business card at the last train show in Prescott Valley, Az. Engineer Dan - Model train repair/ restoration: MTH ASC Independent Tech. Dan Le Page, 1-928-308-0865. Hope this helps!!

you didn't if the spinning was coming from the drivers or drive shaft. if it is the shaft, it may just need to be reattached, glued or replaced. if it is a gear in the tower, try E-Bay. who made the 4-8-8-4?

Your drivers are probably spinning on the axle. Put the loco on the track and observe the axles and wheels. I had a Bachmann loco that did the same thing and I found out it was the axle spinning in the wheel. I tried to fix it by mixing up some epoxy and that did not even work. That´s the reason I will never buy Bachmann locos any more. If your loco is made in Italy it probably a Rivarossi product. Sometimes locos just simply die and cannot be revived. In that case you either sell it for parts or be resourcefull and use it as a static model sitting on some dead tracks or maybe in an engine house for repairs. Just use your imagination. Happy railroading!
