They have all the information you’ll need on how to convert the AHM to Kadee. I don’t remember what I used but it works great.
I run minimum 32″ radius in HO so truck mounted couplers aren’t an issue.

That is an old car.Not sure if it is talgo trucks (coupler mounted to the truck) or body mount. Either way you should go to a #5 or #148 body mount and replace the trucks if they are talgo trucks. Any decent hobby store that caters to trains should have what you need or you can pick the materials up on line. There are lots of YouTube videos showing this type of upgrade/install. A relatively easy job to do.

If this car is like most old AHM cars, it has horn hook truck mounted couplers. You might get lucky and find them at a swap meet. I would suggest replacing the truck and body mounting the coupler. Kadee also makes a talgo freight if you’re using knuckle couplers
