Keeping Track of Small Parts

“I know some folk in the hobby use masking tape to hold small screws and parts to stop them rolling under the layout and getting lost. It is a very good idea, but I have another option to add to that.
My local hardware store sells small 5″ bowls with a magnet attached. One of these bowl is ideal for holding small steel parts.”

In the US, a company names “Harbor Freight” sells the magnetic bowls for $5.00. Less if there is a sale on. Look them up. That bowl is dispensable when working with the small parts we deal with.
Rice pudding cups, Kurig coffee cups, tops off aerosol bottles are cheap, zero cost. I keep a stack of them on my bench top. When I am working on a loco or something, they are perfect for dropping small parts and screws into. Also useful for mixing paint in.
