Kato N Scale Turnouts | Toggle Switches | LEDs

Art has a question for N scale enthusiasts and asks:

“N scale Kato Turnout controls – what other cheaper toggle switches can be used for Kato N Scale turnouts and how do you attach switch direction LEDs on the control panel and on the turnout track indicating direction? Also if you have parallel controls on different sides of a layout, what is the best way to wire switch controls and lights? Thanks for the input.”

well im about to do this as well seams it a dc turnout control with a coil set up so the turnout can only be a quick burst of about 10 to 15v dc but if your already going to use that to power the turnout than you already have a suply of power for your leds all you need to do it get a 4pdt turnout this is a funny looking togel but works grate for this if your looking at it from the bottom you will see it has 12 contacts its 2 dpdt togels biult to one so the 6 on one side wire like a revrise switch for a return loop the other 6 contacts you can do the same for a bi drectinal red green by doing the same but from me im just going to have 2 green lights to light the rute the turnout is lined to so mine will be wired to the leds that way in the end you will want to make sure the power is temperay for the turnout but constant for the leds i do this by wireing in a moment contact push button for the turnout power wires but let the leds power reman this has worked on my workbench fine but has yet made the jump to my layout as its not complete yet holes this helps if you would like a wireing dirogram email [email protected] ill be glad to send you one happy modeling
