N Scale Trestle Building
Mark has a question for N scale model train enthusiasts:
“In n scale, there are pre-made trestles for sale, but I am interested in customizing and scratch building trestles and bridges for accurate historic representation. Is there a source for n gauge trestle structural elements? Plastruct seems to have mainly HO materials.”

HO does have more products over N scalers, and I don’t know of a bridge and/or trestle kit. You might try names like Faller, Vollmer, and Noch, but you’d pay more for them and it seems that the quality doesn’t match the pay increase. If not, you can try buying a already-made-up bridge and then weathering it, putting on graffiti, etc. That way it’s “yours” and there’s none other the same. Atlas offers a black bridge for around $5 with the track on it, which can be taken out if you’re using another brand of track.

There are a couple of things you can do. There are some books on trestles etc using a scale ruler you can make your own parts they convert actual feet etc to the scale buy parts this way. The easiest way is to buy either the walters kit or the jv kit use this as a guide and build on from there. You will still want the ruler and probably a cutting machine look at the online sites they have all of this stuff. I think I’m going with the kits as a start then building from there.
Are you running easy track N scale or old school N scale track? If you plan to run easy track for N scale then HO Trestle’s will work for easy track only.I hope this kind of helps you for I am still learning too although I have been fascinated with model railroads since I was a kid.
