Marklin 2-6-8 BR 53 DRG 3602 locomotive

Brian has a question for Marklin fans:
“I have a Marklin 2-6-8 BR 53 DRG 3602 locomotive. Is it possible to convert this loco from A.C. power to D.C. running on regular 2 rail track. Thank you.”

Not really..the reason being that Marklin trains are built without 2 rail considerations in mind, their wheelsets are not isolated from each other, causing a dead short when placed on DC track. One would have to isolate every wheel set and modify the frames to do it. One can’t even run their earlier freight or passenger cars on DC track because the wheelsets create a dead short.
