Quite a few recent articles and videos have suggested using automatic transmission fluid to clean track. It seems that this fluid is electrically conductive. And from my own experience it cleans very well. I use cotton swabs dipped in the ATF and was very surprised at how much black comes off the track. It also makes for long intervals of having to clean.
