Bachmann 2-8-0 Consolidation | NCE DCC System

Peter has an NCE DCC system and wants guidance from someone with experience in DCC:

“Hi Guys, I recently purchased a Bachmann 2-8-0 consolidation, out the box. I presume it has the Bachmann decoder installed. I use the NCE DCC system. The problem is that the locomotive only starts responding at about step 13 of the speed control. Is this normal? I also have a spectrum 2-8-0. This has no problem. This one has a NCE decoder in? Responds on step 4.”

To help Peter, add your suggestion below.

According to the JMRI (Java Model Railroad Interface) group, the only adjustments you make to the “Speed Control” on this decoder is the starting voltage. If you want to speed match this decoder, you must match your other units to it. As I don’t have a Bachmann decoder, I can’t help you with adjusting that CV.

I have four of the Bachmann 2-8-0 locimotives with DCC and sound using an NCE sysstem. I have had no issues with speed control. They start moving slowly at step 2 of 28. I would contact Bachmann.
