Locomotive Won’t Run

Vinny asks readers for help:

“I have a new MTH Proto 2.0 engine. I am trying to run it in conventional mode (do not have DCS command system). The loco won’t run. The lights come on, the engine chatter works. When I increase the voltage, the horn comes on and will not shut off. I charged the battery with MTH proto 2.0 charger and have the same results. What else can I do?”

Me again! I have found that one issue (for me) is the way i drop the speed control on my z1000 – if i drop it all the way the engine shuts off and will not move on power up – I have practised dropping as low as posssible without powering off, back up to about the 1:00 oclock on the dial and after a short wait it then runs – hope this helps.
