Painting Baseboards

It’s a good idea is to paint the top of the baseboard gray when constructing your layout. Patches of track work where the ballast has not been secured properly will not stand out as easily. I know it is a simple idea, but it is amazing how many people don’t do it.

I find a cheap brown (earth tone) paint is best before you lay down any track or scenery and you can often pick up a 2.5ltr can which goes quite a long way for under £5 in the hardware store, after all we are recreating the world in miniature and railways as well as everything else is usually built/growing on top of plain old earth!
