Using Staging Yards For Train Storage

Jim asks readers:

“I am looking for fiddle yards (staging yards) that use cassettes for storage of rolling stock instead of loops, traverser’s and sector plates. Can any one help telling me where to get drawings/plans or the like?”

I have several trays that I use for staging. They are 4′ long and have 4 tracks. I have them on a rack I made, the top shelf position can be aligned with a track on the layout. Then the trays can be interchanged to storage racks below. Works well. The whole assembly is on casters and can be rolled out of the way if desired.
