Selecting High Performance Diesel Locomotives
Kevin would like to hear your preferences with regards locomotive brands:
“I am completing an 4′ x 8′ N scale layout and am at the point where I going purchase two diesel locomotives. I am looking for recommendations as to high performing locomotives that other model railroaders have had good experience with. My layout uses Kato Unitrack. Thank you in advance.”

I have found Kato locomotives to be excellent runners, smooth, quiet, and powerful. Very good detailing on the bodies as well.

I can definitely recommend Kato locos and that is speaking from the experience of owning a number of them. Their pulling power is tremendous and are nicely detailed.

I just picked up the ES44AC Gevo Kato loco, nice detail, very powerful and very good speed control.
Comes in starter set and by its self.
