    I worked for the PC and Amtrak from 1974 to 1984. Retired due to injury but Romberg the GG1 very well. It was the best engine that the Pennsylvania Railroad ever built. They lasted for fifty years. Unheard of this longevity. Everything else built after THE G was a piece of junk that we paid for.

      The French & the Germans were still running some pre-WWII electrics in the late ’60s & early ’70s, but they were nowhere near as stylish as those GG1s.
