A booster is adding available current capacity to your layout. It is critical that your layout is divided into different power sections that are isolated from each other. To check that it is working you need to ensure it is first connected correctly with your MRC base unit (by a link cable that should have been supplied) to ensure it is receiving the throttle instructions and then connect the track connections on the booster to an isolated track section. If you have a multi meter you can then check the voltage on the isolated track section for 14 – 16 volts ac and then if present add one of your locos and test to see if it receiving an instruction from your throttle.
