How To Connect IR Switches
Don models N scale and has this question for readers:
“I have a bunch of IR switches a (small bulb) one side is lighter than the other. It has 4 wires coming out the bottom, and I am not sure how to connect the in / out power etc.”

Hi Don
Its not quite that simple you will need the associated circuit board to have them work properly. Look on the internet for this and also the item number so you get the connections right.
On the top of the chip it should have an identification code of letters and numbers. Search online for this code with the word “datasheet”. (Best ones are direct from the chip manufacturers website.)
(Some part of the code number may be a batch number which should be disregarded.)
