  • David Stokes says:

DCC Concepts, an Aussie company now based in the UK for working rodding, or Wills for cosmetic rodding

  • Kevin Ching says:

Hi, Barry, I live in New Zealand and I made some rodding for a layout that some kids were building at our club. I used micro servo arms for the quadrants and piano wire for the rods. After a lot of fiddling and fine-tuning, I managed to get them to work really well. would I do it again, well no I would rather put in slow motion servo driven point motors.

  • Don says:

Be very careful of DCC Concepts.

    • David Stokes says:

Don – Please be more specific. DCC Concepts has a strong reputation for the quality of its products and very good reputation regarding customer service in the UK and Australia. I have no connection which DCC Concepts so no axe to grind.

    Hi there
I’m a little in the dark here when you talk about “point ridding”. I’ve never heard of it. What is this concept?

    • Sheldon Clark says:

It’s a series of round or square section rods that run along the trackside, connecting the switch blades of points (turnouts) to the signaller’s frame in a mechanical signal box. They were largely dispensed with when electric & electro-pneumatic point motors were invented. You can buy cosmetic or functional models in 00 scale; some people build their own from scratch in various scales.
