Märklin Engine Question
Tom posted this question:
“I need help. I bought a Märklin 36712 about 5 years ago and I just got it out of the box. There is no paper work with it. I tried to read the decoder with my ECoS digital command station ESU. I would be grateful if anybody can help with how to DCC it? Also, where to get manuals from in English not German? I have some photos if that will help. Do you know is there any modification I need to do? Many thanks.”

Have you tried the Marklin website ? Most manufacturers’ websites have a section called “Support”, which provides manuals in all various languages.
There is a manual available on the Marklin website:

May seem dumb to ask but…..are you running a Marklin layout. Marklin is a 3 rail sysrem and will not work in a 2 rail config. Forget about doing a conversion unless the lok is something special. Check your settings on your controller that they are able to read Motorola or MFX decoders.
