Being an Aussie I suppose I’d plug for the Austrains 830 SAR diesel.
First, it must be Kato and UP or BNSF SD80/90
I’m with Garth – Kato but BN green livery, maybe a SD70.
Being Hungarian (Europe), I would choose a steam locomotive 424
It has to be the World Steam Loco Speed Record holder : A4 Mallard. My Hornby model is in its later BR green livery. Superb!
For me it is and always will be a Southern Pacific SD45 Tunnel Moto or its brother in DRGW livery.
conrail sd80mac for its power & looks
I have 6″ bends on my 2′ x 3′ layout, so I cant run big ones. My favourite is the Minitrix 89 005 0-6-0 steam loco.
A Pennsy GG1 in any decoration. Always looks and works great.
Norfolk & Western Y6b, so big and majestic, it’s whistle speaks for itself …
