Long Mainlines

Space is not an issue so a 60-foot mainline would not be out of the question. We are both keen to operate long coal trains with possibly 100+ cars. Has anyone done it? Any tips before we get started? I’m sure that Ntrak has run very long trains at conventions when they’ve put together lots of modules. You might find information on their website—Ntrak is now Nrail. If you’re not a member you might want to join. Even if you don’t build a module the organization provides a great deal of helpful N scale information.
Yes, we run 100+ car trains on our club layout without issue. The type of engine and rolling stock determines how many engines would be needed for a given length train. Running a layout with 60ft mainline straights would likely require boosters to help provide power in addition to the command station.
Can you share a photo? It would be great to see.
There used to be a train shop in Georgia that was running a 100 car plus train in HO. The pics I saw used 2 engines.
