HO Train Jumping Track

Tim asks readers for ideas:

“I have a 2-10- 4 stean engine that jumps track even on a perfect flat , straight area. Front two wheels jump track imeditatly. My others don’t. Any idea hat to look for?”

check to see if you lost a spring to hold down the wheel see if the wheel set is free and wheels turn freely If all else fails try to ad some lead weight over the top of the wheel set ====lead shot will work in a confined space. glue it with hot glue or some other easy to remove adhesive in case it doesn’t work

First thing to do is check the gauge of the wheels.

check track for be level and all the couplers same height

Check the track in the area the loco jumps track. a 2 10 2 and alike can not flex, the wheel set on one side of the loco are droping into or going over a hump causing the loco to lift the frount wheels. The weight may not help. My guess is a track problem.
