Bob asks readers for advice:

“I have a very old and running Lionel Commodore Vanderbilt train set – locomotive, coal car, fuel car and caboose. I need to replace the transformer – what do you recommend?”

Any Lionel transformer from 1940 on up through present day will do as long as the newer ones are not set up for those fancy electornic receiver equipt models. Anything in the “Golden Era” (the 1950’s through the mid 1960’s) will do fine.
