Resolving A DCC Problem
Franks is hoping someone can assist with this problem:
“I have 2 identical OO gauge BR 0-4-0 Class 06 diesel shunters. At present I have an oval test track. I have fit identical Decoders to both (laissdcc 2 function 6 pin). One runs perfectly well in the direction that the other trains with the same decoder run but one only runs the opposite way. It runs perfectly in forward and reverse but if I turn it round to run the same way as the other trains it will not go in either forward or reverse. Presently I am using a Hornby select controller as I am waiting for the return of my NCE powercab from America. I have tried altering the wiring in the loco all to no effect. Could this just be a faulty decoder or is it something to do with the loco or Hornby select. Any replies would be much appreciated. One very frustrated modeler.”

Have you tried turning the decoder around 180 degrees I had the same problem with a diesel going the opposite way to what I programmed and turning the decoder round cured it.
Robert thank you for that suggestion but as I said I was waiting for my NCE controller returning from America and yes it appears to be an anomoly with the Select. Thank you for your very interesting reply I didn’t realise you could do that with a decoder I thought they only worked one way.

if 1 off your locos is running in reverse, this would either mean that the motor wires (orange & grey)
are reversed or the forward/reverse CV (CV29) is set wrong. Refer to your decoder instructions on how to reprogram , its not difficult) Turning your loco around will make no difference to the running direction as the decoder will always run in the direction you tell it. (unlike old non DCC systems)
I presume you have different addresses for both locos.
messing around with wiring is always dodgy if you are unsure of the electrics. Safety is sometimes
the healthiest way, speak to your supplier or a local expert.
