DCC Sound

Devasis has some confusion over DCC and DC systems. Would a reader like to put him right?

“Is it possible to operate a locomotive equipped with DCC and sound with the operations listed on a normal anlogue dc track? Some manufacturers are offering remote control applications for locos with sound with operations by remote control. Can someone kindly clarify?”

Yes, in my experience dcc runs well on dc, I have no complaints, and if you purchased a real good loco, it has many functions in dc. More in dcc. for example Out of 10 sounds, in dc you may get 6 or more out of 10. in dcc you get all 10.

The short answer is, it’s possible if the locomotive is equipped to do so.

For the long answer you would have to talk to the locomotive manufacturers.

Athern has at least two N scale locomotives that I know of equipped with sound for DC operations.
