DCC Ready And Wiring Decoders

Joe has a question for anyone using DCC operation:

“Can anyone tell me what is the diffence between dcc ready and plug and play. I ordered a dcc thinking I could just plug it in as I am not good at wiring decoders. Thanks Joe”

One Response to DCC Ready And Wiring Decoders

Joe, Loco’s purchased “DCC ready” are sold out of the box to run DC only.
DCC ready means the loco circuit board is set up so as to easily connect a decoder. IN other words, the NMRA standard decoder plug is provided. Just purchase a suitable decoder, plug it into the circuit board & you’re away! Plug & play means virtually DC only – no plug provided, however that doesn’t preclude the loco from future conversion to DCC running. I think all you need to know is purchase “DCC ready” loco’s
    Hope this helps
