Hobby Glues For Model Railroads

Richard and his son would like some advice from fellow model railroaders on hobby glues:

“My son and I acquired a roundhouse kit for HO that requires gluing. We wanted to know what is, or are, good glues to use and where we can get them?”

Hi Richard and son, If you have the box and instructions it should tell you what kind of material you are building with and should tell you what kind of glue to use. If not, if the kit is made of plastic like mine was, it is “styrene” (not sure of spelling)
plastic. Look for glue for that type of plastic or material or bring the item to your hobby shop and they will tell you what you are working with and what to use. I find most of my glues at A C Moore or Michales or on line or any hobby shop. On line I use “Model Train stuff.com” they have a discription of there products and good prices. Just a tip be careful when using glue I put a drop of glue on a doubled paper plate and use a tooth pick or some other fine point to carefully dab it on the piece I am glueing so as not to make a mess.

Also, if you’re not sure about your glue, dab a little bit on a part of the model that won’t be seen, or on some discarded piece of plastic from the kit, to make sure there is no discoloring.
