Loop Tracks And Reverse Circuit?
Mark has a question for readers about loop tracks and asks:
“I have track that goes one way and loops around and back to the same track. Not reverse as back or forth on same track like a trolley system. I need a device to goes one way and loop around and reverse the circuit to continue to other side. Can anyone tell me how to do this?”

You may want to try a device called AR1 manufactured by Digitrax, Inc. I purchased one but haven’t used it yet since I’m in the early stages of construction. The device automatically reverses the track polarity on a return loop or wye when the locomotive makes a short circuit. The ‘short’ acts a ‘switch’ that instantly tells the device to reverse the polarity of the upcoming track so that the locomotive can proceed unhindered. I don’t know if the engine pauses or hesitates briefly during this operation. Based on the AR1 instructions, hook up looks very straight forward and uncomplicated. As I recall, the device has a suggested retail price of $35 or so but I’m sure that you can get it cheaper on the Internet. Do a Google search for ‘Digitrax’ and that should get you started. Hope this helps.
Thanks silly one, I looked up your suggestion on line and it was great. I am stuck on DC by choise. However I dont like what I have to do to create a reverse loop, and its operation. Your suggestion, the AR1 has solved my extra work and operation pleasure. I cant wait to install it. And as they say in there manuel it CAN be used on “DC”. I am in the process of building a much larger layout with 2 of these reverse loops and this will really make life much more pleasurable, and the price is very affordable. thanks again.
Hi Robert, thanks for this blog, I love participating in this, and I hope others that use it feel the same way. It is nice to get feed back on answers to questions to see how they worked out. Tony P
