HO to N Conversion
Jon is new to model railroading and is hoping someone can advise him:
“I am just getting started in the RR hobby. I saw a beautiful layout in HO scale that I would like to use in N scale. The table shown was 10×5. How would it fit it on a 4×8 base and how do I convert the track needs from HO to N? Thanks for any help possible from any of the blog readers.”

Hi Jon, HO is 1:87 vs N is 1:160 if you can do the math you can convert it. If you go to a real good model RR store or supplier they should be able to give you exactly what you need (make the conversion for you). or you could do what I like to do, just do it on your own and figure it out by the necessary track and switches you will need and see how easy it is and how much you will learn, of course do a dry run. By the way over the years I have modeled in a number of different scales and sometimes at the same time. I am now modeling only in N scale and I love it. You get more in the same space, sometimes it is less expensive and the realism is there. Do your self a favor and go on line to the Atlas RR web site and click on the n scale layouts they have code 55 and code 80 track layouts and you can buy it directly thru them with all the parts and directions or you can just buy the n scale layout book from them and they give you a complete parts list. I purchased one of these the (N-18 gulf summit) when it was on sale (great buy)and of course I added to it and changed some of it as I wanted to see on my layout. So go for it and TAKE YOUR TIME and have fun.
