I don’t use a saw I use to but found that the rail clipper (Xuron is the name of the rail cutter) does a nicer job—-there expensive $14, but worth it in the long run. I cried all the way down to the hobby store when I had to part with the cash but my tears turned to shear joy when I clipped off my first rail and got a perfect fit If you use a exacto knife and score the top of the rail you can slid the rail cutter down the rail and it will fall into the cut to get the cut just right. One other thing NEVER CUT anything else but RAIL with it if you want to keep having clean sharp cuts.—–AlanC.

I think the best way to cut track fast clean and perfect cut is with Dremmel and cut-off wheel fiber glass reinforce, I used this tool for at least 20 years cutting Lionel, MTH, Atlas, GarGraves or any kind of track.
