Street Lights On Layout

Ross asks readers for help:

“I connected some lights in a building and some street lighting on my HO layout but they don’t work. They stayed on for only a few moments before they died. I think the current was too high? Can someone tell me what I should be doing to make the lights work.”

One Response to Street Lights On Layout

  • Bryan says:

Ross..You need to know the voltage of your lights and power supply. If the light voltage is lower, you can run them in series. Example-power 18 volts and lights 3 volts, then series 6 lights. If you just want 1 light, try a resistor in series. Start out with a 1800 Ohm and work down until you get the proper brightness.
