Modifying Bachmann Track | Dremel Cutting Wheel | Hobbiest Razor Saw
Steve asks others in the hobby for help:
“I have chosen G scale for a large inside near-ceiling shelf run and have a need to shorten both straight and curved Bachmann track. No matter how carefully I make the attempt (either using a Dremel cutting wheel or a hobbiest razor saw), I fail to make a perfect vertical cut needed for perfect track mating. Does anyone have experience doing this and if so can you guide step-by-step through your procedure? Many thanks in advance!”

hi steve this is john just a quick idea on cutting your track i also have had trouble with cutting track to the exactsize i needed one rail always seemed to be longer then the other for some reason i recently purchased a mimi cut off saw ( a hobbist rendidition of a chop saw)and the result was amazing. i finely cut my track to the rxact size i need everytime maybe if you have a lot of track to cut this would be a good purchace for you also they are about 35 dollars but well worth it…john
hi steve try a mimi electric saw i bought one for the same problem and it works great they are about 35.00 but well worth it,,,john
Hi Strve I had the same troible with my Ho gauge train what i did was cut with a small hobby saw and then went into my garage and fine tuned thr track on my grinder it worked for me great after a little experementing and practice, if you have a grinding machine invest in the finest core wheel you can find i now can do it without first cutting my track a little long you might try cutting a little long and then put the track to the grinder and keep trying it out as you grind it down .
