Turning Trains Around – Turntables, Wyes and Reversing Loops
Richard has a question for others in the hobby:
“I know about HO turn tables, wyes and reversing loops at the end of a line. Are there any other ways to turn a train, or even just a locomotive around to head back the other way? I’m thinking mostly of passenger trains, with all the seats facing forward and I don’t want them to have to ride backward, or to manually reverse each car.”

To be honest, I think you know all the options. Turntables in real life are costly. Reverse loops and or Balloon Tracks take up vast Real estate even in the hobby. If you run Passenger Equipment. The Balloon is more realistic for turn a Passenger train, in my opinion. If you have the room you can set up your P Term with a hidden run thru and hidden Balloon track that is unseen. In Butte Montana a large Wye was used at the P Depot. West Bound train would pull west of the north leg and the back in, and and East Bound would pull east of the Wye and back in. A cool idea, but Real Estate intensive. Witch ever way you go good building and running.
