Where can I find brushes for my F-7 Marklin (88603) Locomotive? Walters is not carrying them at present. The part number thru Walters is 442-604226>
I have a 0-6-0 steam switcher that had’nt been run in 15yrs, very little track time. I put it on the track and turned on the Marklin 10v pack. Nothing, then oh no, Smoke! Quickly turned off. I disassembled the engine ,very carefully cleaned out old crud with electronics cleaner. I noticed that the comutator was black and had a little bump on it that was pushing the brushes out of alignment. possibly a small welded spot? Cleaned comutator with extreamly fine (2000) paper.
reasembled and it runs great! until you turn off power, and then it will not restart untill you move the brush holders a little with a small screwdriver.Checked brush holder contacts etc, comutator black again!?? Still runs freely in forward & reverse untill power is removed then back to moving brushes
again. Do I need new brushes, new rotor? can this old surviver be saved? (z-scale).
