Adjusting Wheel Gauge

Jack has a question for fellow model railroaders:

“I need to adjust the wheel gauge on an O-Scale 2-track truck. Any suggestions how to accomplish this? The wheels are too close together.”

One Response to Adjusting Wheel Gauge

  • Frank says:

I have never done this, but as there are no other answers, I will make a suggestion to try.

    Remove the wheelset.
Support the wheel on top of a small vice with the axle going down between the jaws (not tightened).
Using a small piece of wood on the axle end, tap very gently with a small hammer.
    Measure.
Reverse the arrangement to move the wheel back the other way.

There are wheel pullers available, but you probably don’t want to buy one just for one truck !
