JOINING 2 BOARDS TOGETHER CAN BE FRUSTRATING. HAVE YOU HEARD OF POCKET HOLE JONERY. BY USING A POCKET HOLE JIG YOU CAN JOIN 2 BOARDS END TO END VERY EASILY.
MAYBE A FREIND WOULD HAVE ONE IF YOU DON’T.
HERB
Thanks for that Herb. I have not heard of this. It is something I will look into

Not very pretty but I used butt hinges with removable pins and screwed to the outside faces of the boards tobe joined.
Hi Chris
That sounds a good idea. Thanks
Harvey
The only really accurate way to join baseboards accurately is to use Pattern Makers Dowels.
They are a machined male / female plug and socket.
Hi Shaun
I have tried dowels but plain ones. A male and female socket sounds good. Thanks
Harvey
There are great couplers for counter tops. Requires 2 1/2″ deep 3/4″ holes with a groove between. One hole in each board. A threaded rod threads (left and right hand threads) into each round piece that fits in the recessed hole. Turn the rod and the boards are pulled tightly against each other. Available at builders supply and counter top fabricators.
Hi Bob
This sounds good but I don’t think I will have space for this, although I will look into it. Thanks very much for your suggestion.

I just had this problem. I used dowel rods, but I didn’t have the right gear to put them in, so I put the two pieces together and drilled a hole through both sides about six times for four feet. Then I stuck the dowel pieces in one side and glued them into the hole. When they were dry the two pieces fitted together perfectly.
