FasTrack layout Ideas For 8ft x 4 ft Baseboard

Reader Rob asks:

“I am looking some FasTrack layout idea’s. I only have a 4×8 board at this time. So I am limited to space. So if anyone has ideas for layouts that I can use it will be greatly appreciated. I cannot get out that much due to a disability. I do have about 8 switches a 90 degree cross track and plenty of track. Thank you for your time and concern. ”

You did not mention what scale for your layout. However I would recommend downloading AnyRail 5 which can be used for free up to a limited amount of track so that you can see if you like the program. It works very well and can be used for most all scales. You can input you dimension and place the track sections that you have to scale on your sized layout. I purchased the program and used it to design my layout. You can also find layouts to download that are compatible with this program that others have already done. Hope this helps.

Tony Neilson’s N Scale track plans ebook displayed on this site has several excellent plans.

I found some suitable plans in the oo HO book on the blog too.

I had a 4’x8′ set up. What I did is an outside oval with a separate figure 8 in the center. The oval had a radius of 22″ for the larger engines. The figure 8 had a radius of 18″. There was lots of room for scenery. Once I got it looking good, I tore it apart. I’m moving it up above the doors and windows now. Yes I can see it.
