I was born & raised in Jersey City, N.J. and have lived in Denville (NJT Territory) and Whippany (Morristown & Erie Short Line, Home of the Alco’s & the Whippany RR Museum).

I spent a great deal of time Railfaning the Tri-State area & Pennsylvania including NYC Subways, Metro North, Sunnyside Yard, Port Jervis, Philadelphia, New Hope & Ivyland,, Susie_Q (NYS&W), Binghamton, Steam town (Scranton), Lancaster (Strasburg RR, RR Museum of PA), Jim Thorpe, Reading, Hamburg (Blue Mtn & Reading), Wilkes-Barre, Norristown (Septa), Altoona (Horseshoe Curve), PA Reading Seashore Lines (Rio Grande, NJ), Jamaica (Long Island RR).

My Company (Conrac > Lear Siegler > Smiths Industries > Smiths Aerospace > GE thru Mergers/Buy-Outs) moved me to Clearwater, FL in 1996. I retired from General Electric in 2011) and I live in Un-incorporated Palm Harbor (East Lake) on the East Side of Lake Tarpon.

How do you like the new Railfan Platform in Plant City?

I like photographing Industrial Switchers in Florida & Georgia. I belong to ERA (Electric Railroaders Association out of NYC, ACL/SAL Historical Society, and FECRS (Florida East Coast Railway Society).

    • Fred M Pohl says:

Mr Nick Orio I have ridden the RIverline and photgraphed it too its real nice Its a shame this was not done long ago when the so called”Energy Crisis” Set everything back My mom told me there is a silverl lining in every dark cloud It set things in motion for all of the light raill sytems that are up and running in a lot of major cities in the USA today there are more following and it seems a lot of these old skinflints of National City Lines must be turning over in thier graves with the onslaught of light rial systems
