Converting to what? DC to DCC?
Howell Day (the owner of Red ball) was someone I knew quite well. Most of the brass he imported was during the ’50s and ’60s. Most locos, in those days, had the motor grounded to the frame. If you’re converting to DCC, you’ll have to insulate the motor from the frame. Many of those older motors drew lots of current, so choose a decoder that’s capable of handling the higher amperage. You’ll probably want to change the bulb to an LED as well. Good luck!
